Baidu Robin Li And Alibaba Ma Yun On Cloud Computing PK

On March 28th, the 2010 China (Shenzhen) IT leaders co sponsored by the Shenzhen municipal government and the digital China Federation were held at Wuzhou guesthouse in Shenzhen today. Baidu CEO Robin Li and chairman of the board of directors of Alibaba, Ma Yun, launched a battle against cloud computing.

Robin Li believes that the concept of cloud computing has been going on for many years, that is, old wine in new bottles, and nothing new.

"In the early days, 15 years ago, we talked about the relationship between the client and the server. Later, we talked about the service based on the Internet web interface. Now speaking of cloud computing, in fact, it is the same in itself, the main activities are done on the server side, the more simple the client needs to do."

For the traditional software industry Xiang Yun calculation closer, Robin Li expressed concern that he thought there would be a left hand to fight the right hand.

"You say you are Microsoft's office, you want to make everything in the cloud to do, in the client do not want anything, this is more or less a little left hand to fight the right hand, thankless situation."

Ma Yun disagreed with Robin Li's view that cloud computing would eventually be a mechanism for sharing, processing, storing, and sharing data.

He warned that this mechanism should not be underestimated. Cloud computing may contain subversive forces.

"What I fear most is old wine and new bottles. You can't see clearly what he is playing.

If it has never been heard, this is not terrible.

YAHOO did the search engine that year, and then Google came out, and many YAHOO people thought they were similar to us, and then almost killed them.

Ma Yun said that Alibaba is full of confidence in cloud computing and can create greater value for society.

"We do not think this has found a new mineral. Our Alibaba has a large number of consumer data and Alipay paction data. We feel that these data are useful to us, but they may be more useful to society, such as the information we have from small businesses to the whole Chinese economy and the world economy, from consumer data to manufacturing data, so that they can produce better products to consumers."

Ma Yun also suggested that cloud computing is a general trend and a strategy that Alibaba must implement.

"If we can share this data with the society, it is very useful.

If we don't do this one day, Baidu and Tencent will drive us out of the door of e-commerce.

So this is customer needs, if we don't do it, we will die. "
